The Great Indian Family Movie Review
Great Indian Family Movie

The Great Indian Family is an okay film, it is the same template cinema that we have been seeing for some time now, which Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao are doing, it is a small one where there is a taboo, which no one talks about in the open.

Although The Great Indian Family has what they have, the subject they have chosen is a little different. This film captures the Hindu-Muslim issue going on in the country but does not drag much.

The Great Indian Family Movie Storyline

The story of The Great Indian Family takes place in the small town of Balrampur in UP. A party family lives here. These are the reputed people of the area, they conduct pujas, arrange marriages, and they are a strange family. Here all the decisions are taken in a democratic manner.

Ved Vyas Tripathi urf  Billu is the son of the head of the party family. He sings bhajans in all the big events of his city, hence his name is Bhajan Kumar.

Everything was going well, and then one day it was revealed that a member of the party family was a Muslim. From here the struggle of that character begins. To get rid of this identity crisis, he has to fight against both the family and the society. Whether the war can be won or not and if it wins then how, these two questions remain, which the film tries to answer.

There are no definite answers to both of these questions.

The Great Indian Family is a simple film that tries to entertain a little and educate a little, at that level you cannot doubt the intentions of this film, but it does all this in a routine manner, which is a serious issue worth talking about.

The Great Indian Family

For this, one has to walk with the help of the crutch of comedy. How ignorant is the hero of this film about the things happening around him, why he does not even know that Allah Ho Akbar is not a greeting.

He feels that Muslims put a pun on every word while talking, whether it is necessary or not, on his Muslim friend immediately interrupts him.

The picture knows what it is doing, it has self-awareness, The Great Indian Family does not complicate its story unnecessarily, this thing works in one aspect of the film in two ways, one is that the story is clear cut and the other is understandable. The film avoids being long.

The Great Indian Family Movie

The Great Indian Family should be given credit for the fact that the film wants to say a good and important thing at the right time.

But looking at such films it seems that we are still operating at a very basic level. We feel that this is an important issue that should be discussed. When it comes to talking, we are left just scratching the surface. Here we want to compensate for it with over top which does not work every time.

The Great Indian Family Movie

The Great Indian Family had a slightly different subject and an honest attempt has been made to portray it. There is a sequence in the film when Bhajan Kumar says, "Oh man, what is all this nonsense, Muslims eat meat daily, a Brahmin Sardar cannot get married. Where did you people learn all this? What kind of new generation of new India we are."

This is also a part of Bhajan Kumar's learning. He has seen all these things with his own eyes, understood them, and learned from them. This dialogue is also a good way to see the career trajectory of Vicky Kaushal.

There was a dialogue in Vicky Kaushal's film Uri The Surgical Strike that 'Naya India hai jo ghar mein ghus kar marta hai', and from there the term 'Naya India jo hai' came into pop culture. Now in his new film, he is raising questions on the concept and ideas of this new India. Vicky Kaushal has played the role of Bhajan Kumar in the film. Vicky Kaushal is the kind of actor who works hard in every role. Here too his work is strong but on many occasions, it seems that the film is not worthy of his performance.

Kumud Mishra plays the role of Vicky Kaushal's father. Kumud Mishra goes on Chardham Yatra in the first half and returns straight in the climax.

Manoj Pavha has played the role of Bhajan Kumar's uncle Balak Ram. I have an opinion about Manoj's work which can be kept in the unpopular category that Manoj is more effective in serious roles than in comics.

See Manoj Pawah's work in Mulk, here too his character touches the gray shade and comes back with a thud. This is Manushi Chhillar's second film. In this film, she has played the role of a local singer named Jasmeet.

She appears for five minutes in the first half of the film and then returns just before the climax. Even if she was not in the films, it would not have made much difference to the story. Bhajan Kumar's two friends in the film are Bhuvan Arora and Ashutosh Ujjwal.

Bhuvan's character remains a regular best friend character but Ashu's character has been given an art, he does not have much screen time but he is an important character in terms of the story.

The biggest controversy of the story starts with the character of Sarveshwar played by Ashutosh. The way Sarveshwar talks is a very funny tone, it is a good work according to the film, and we would like to see more of Ashutosh.

Apart from these people, actors like Saadia Siddiqui, and Alka Amin are also seen in the film, but the issue is that they are only visible and you hardly get to hear any words or dialogue from their mouths.

The overall thing is that The Great Indian Family is a film that can be watched sitting with the family. The picture has a message to convey to the public and it delivers it. It is neither a wonderful cinema nor one that should be discarded and thrown in the dustbin. The most positive thing about this film is that in the process of telling one right thing, it does not teach four wrong things, this is our opinion, watch the picture to form your opinion and then tell us your opinion in the comment box, thank you.
